The fall season is quickly coming upon us. The leaves are changing and the air is cooler as we anticipate a new C.A.M.P. and retreat season with excitement for what God will do through His ministry here on this mountain.
But, before we look forward let’s take a look back in the “rearview mirror” at what’s just passed. The summer season of 2008 can be summed up in one word, “Wow!” This camping season saw over 800 youth from twenty-five different states and three different countries come and participate in our seven weeks of summer camp. Over 300 new ranchers experienced MMR for the very first time this summer.
Our summer was extremely wet, but the best showers were the showers of blessing that could be experienced at every Thursday night campfire. Ranchers and summer staff shared of life-changing experiences and challenges from God that had occurred during their week of camp. Many shared their decisions to accept Jesus as the Lord and Savior of their lives and we all rejoiced for the new additions to the family of God. Others shared of a new dedication to God, and commitments to spiritual disciplines, restoring relationships, resolving hurts and bitterness, and the list goes on and on.
The summer staff and over 250 weekly volunteers generously gave of themselves as they shared of their lives and talents in the ministry here. The apprentices were also able to experience a new level of giving and sacrifice and reap the blessing of seeing lives changed because of their service. The effectiveness of our ministry was greatly impacted by those who were willing to come alongside and help to make this summer one that truly brought glory to God.

Volunteers competed this summer in the Kitchen Challenge from all over the U.S. and Canada. The competition of choosing the best all-around crew in: thoroughness in meal preps, cheerfulness in serving on the mission field, speed in meal clean-ups, bunk house inspection, and character qualities of punctuality, joy, attentiveness, being cooperative, and transparency in Christ. Our 2008 winners are:
1st Place: Crew from Week 2 (Alicia Cutler, Jan Southers, Carla Viezbicke, Katie Redman, Tanya Luce, Margaret James, Sandy Perkovic)
2nd Place: Crew from Week 3
3rd Place: Crew from Week 1

Poster Winners: It was difficult to select - they were all winners and sure to have caught the eye and hearts of those who passed through the food lines. Thank you for participating in this aspect of ministry!
1st Place: “The Boots” - Ashley Armstrong
2nd Place: “Clean Hands” - Tori Pasterik
3rd Place: “Humble Yourself” - Jan Southers

A huge hearty thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work and efforts to serve the Lord this past summer at MMR in the kitchen ministry. May the Lord bless you with the desire “to change” and be an example of a “living epistle.”
