The Rosie’s Update

Miracle Mountain Ranch Missions

April 2010

“I’m doing a great work…”

Donnie has had the opportunity to speak at a small church in Erie for the past few months. While there, he has been speaking about one of his favorite Bible characters- Nehemiah. In Nehemiah 6:3 he makes the statement “I am doing a great work and I cannot come down…” in response to the request that he leave his work rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem and go meet with a couple of men who opposed his work. In thinking about this statement, we have really been encouraged that when the Lord puts a person to a task, it is a great thing and it is to be maintained until the Lord sends that person elsewhere. In this we have really been encouraged that the Lord has put us into a great work here at Miracle Mt. Ranch and we have found and continue to find great joy in serving Him here.

On the mountaintop…

A lot is going on this spring at MMR! The snow has finally melted away and we are gearing up for this new season. In March, Lew Sterrett resigned as executive director at the ranch. He will be continuing his Sermon on the Mount ministries apart from the ranch and will be based out of French Camp, MS, where he has been working for the past year. We will miss him, but know that God has good things in store for his ministries. Donnie is very thankful for the mentoring and friendship of Lew over the past nine years.  Ralph Magill will be taking over as interim director and will remain until August when a new director will be put in place. Please keep the staff in prayer as we work through this transition time. We have several spring retreats coming up and our annual Open House, a free day for people to check out the ranch and maybe take a trail ride. We hope to have a good turn out this year as we did last year! Come up if you’re in the area!

Summer camp begins on June 20th and we are praying for a full summer.  We always look forward to this time of year as we get to see kids come to know the Lord and get excited about growing in their relationship with Him. Tonya will again be in charge of the girl counselors and looks forward to investing into their lives this summer!

We also look forward to seeing our apprentices taking on their new responsibilities that come along with summer camp. Joey, Tim, and Micah have been such a blessing to us.  They are continuing to grow in the Lord and develop the characteristics that will allow them to be effective in their ministries.

Personal News and Notes…

Life continues to be busy for the Rosie’s! In December we added to our family the cutest little puppy named Ebbie. She is a miniature schnauzer and we have loved having her in our home. She brings a lot of joy and fun to our lives and keeps us laughing at her funny personality.

We have both had the opportunity to teach classes for the apprenticeship program. Donnie teaches Time Management and Tonya co-teaches Preparation for Ministry as well as Speaking to Children. It is a great opportunity to get to know the apprentices even more and we enjoy the interaction with them.

We have also been on the road quite a bit lately. In March, we spent a weekend in Virginia at the Community Church of Chesapeake where we participated in their Missions Conference. We had a great time catching up with friends and family and sharing with the church what has been going at the ranch.  This month we spent a weekend in Cincinnati at a home school conference that hosted 13,000+ people. We were able to hand out quite a bit of information about the ranch and we hope to see new people coming up to camp and the apprenticeship as a result. We have several more of these events coming up in Harrisburg, PA; Akron, OH; and Rochester, NY. These events are all a part of the marketing strategy, so Donnie has been enjoying getting word out about the ranch.

In other news, Tonya’s grandfather passed away on April 3 after a battle with bone cancer. It has been a sad time and although he will be greatly missed, we also rejoice that we will see him again in heaven. It has been a blessing to see the family come together to support one another.

Lastly, we would like to see new financial partners join us this year. To see two more regular supporters would be very encouraging and helpful for our work here at Miracle Mountain Ranch, would you consider this?

Praise…

- for all who support us through prayer and finances

- for the gift of a washer

- for safety in all of our travels

- for the evidence of spiritual growth in our apprentices

- for time with both of our families in the past month

Prayer…

- for Joey, Tim, and Micah as they enter their summer positions

- for a full and safe summer camp

- for our continued travels

- for the ranch staff as we work through leadership transition
